Latest cakes

I am finally getting around to posting more pictures of recent cakes on my blog. It has been a few months since my last post but lots has been going on at The Perfect Piece of Cake. I have decided to partner with a very talented friend to form a  dessert buffet branch of The Perfect Piece of Cake called The Treat Table. Most of the recent cakes that I have made have been for our amazing dessert buffets. Check us out at www.thetreattable.com.

This is a happy cake for a girl who loves the Wizard of Oz. Everything was edible right down to Dorothy's red ruby slippers.

This pretty cake was for one of The Treat Table's first parties, for a little girl and her American Girl Doll themed party. The kids were all asked to bring their dolls to the party for an adorable tea party.

This cake and sugar shoe was for a very fun lady who is every bit as sexy as this cake suggests. She loved the cake and especially loved how I personalized everything for her.

What better theme for a little boy whose name is Charlie. Go to www.thetreattable.com to see the rest of this dessert buffet that we created to celebrate Charlie's birthday. It was visually stunning.

This cake was truly a labor of love. Logging in almost twenty hours of work, it is my most time consuming cake to date. But of course well worth the time. The results were amazing. I was inspired by a beautiful cake done by Bobbette and Belle. This cake was for another event by The Treat Table

Cakes by The Perfect Piece of Cake

It has been a long time since I last updated the blog but it has been rather busy around here. A new little baby has joined our clan, Peter. He has kept me very occupied but the cake orders are starting to come in and it is back to work! Here are some of the cakes that I have worked on over the last year.

Summertime

It has been some time since my last post but as you will see I have been quite busy with many cakes. Take a look below.

A pillow cake fit for a princess.

This cake was for a great teacher that loves sunflowers.

This treasure chest cake was for a boy who celebrated his birthday like a true pirate.

This cake was a accumulation of one man's favorite things.

This beautiful mermaid cake was for a little girl who loves the ocean.

This wine bottle cake was the perfect center piece for a wine tasting party. Several party goers thought it was an actual bottle for the tasting.

I was approached about making a cake for a little boy obsessed with playing with bugs. I wanted to make something whimsical and not disgusting. This is what I decided upon. The kids had a wonderful time picking out which bug they wanted to eat.

This cake was for a teacher appreciation luncheon at my kids' school. The teachers felt special to receive such a unique cake.

I was fortunate enough to take a cake decorating class with the renowned Colette Peters. We created a wedding cake from start to finish using swatches of fabrics and papers for inspiration. This was my creation.

This was a whimsical cake for a little girl.

This is probably my most unique cake. It was for a boy who celebrated his first communion. The day also happened to be the day of the Kentucky Derby so I was asked to make this cake to celebrate both events.

These cupcakes were for a boy who was also celebrating his first communion. The cupcakes were meant to look like a stained glass window of a chalice with the eucharist.

This cake was for a fashionista with a love of wild shoes.

Mickey! What else is there to say.

It has been a while since my last post

This cake was created for a couple who was celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.(Ruby) The couple renewed their vows and the cake was hand painted with images that represented their lives. At the top of the cake was a gift box with a replica of the ring the husband presented to his wife at the renewal.

This cake was for a boy's birthday who has dreams of becoming a guitar hero someday.
