Summertime

It has been some time since my last post but as you will see I have been quite busy with many cakes. Take a look below.

A pillow cake fit for a princess.

This cake was for a great teacher that loves sunflowers.

This treasure chest cake was for a boy who celebrated his birthday like a true pirate.

This cake was a accumulation of one man's favorite things.

This beautiful mermaid cake was for a little girl who loves the ocean.

This wine bottle cake was the perfect center piece for a wine tasting party. Several party goers thought it was an actual bottle for the tasting.

I was approached about making a cake for a little boy obsessed with playing with bugs. I wanted to make something whimsical and not disgusting. This is what I decided upon. The kids had a wonderful time picking out which bug they wanted to eat.

This cake was for a teacher appreciation luncheon at my kids' school. The teachers felt special to receive such a unique cake.

I was fortunate enough to take a cake decorating class with the renowned Colette Peters. We created a wedding cake from start to finish using swatches of fabrics and papers for inspiration. This was my creation.

This was a whimsical cake for a little girl.

This is probably my most unique cake. It was for a boy who celebrated his first communion. The day also happened to be the day of the Kentucky Derby so I was asked to make this cake to celebrate both events.

These cupcakes were for a boy who was also celebrating his first communion. The cupcakes were meant to look like a stained glass window of a chalice with the eucharist.

This cake was for a fashionista with a love of wild shoes.

Mickey! What else is there to say.

This cake was created for a couple who was celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.(Ruby) The couple renewed their vows and the cake was hand painted with images that represented their lives. At the top of the cake was a gift box with a replica of the ring the husband presented to his wife at the renewal.

Cakes by The Perfect Piece of Cake

This butterfly cake was a true labor of love. Many hours were involved in creating all of the sugar flowers but the results were nothing short of spectacular.

This jungle themed cake was the perfect touch to the outdoor party. All of the animals were made out of sugar and the entire cake was completely edible. During the party, the children were given magnifying glasses so they could search for bugs or small animals and many of the children came to the cake and began looking for animals in it. Cake as entertainment who would've thought?

Lets go the Zoo.

What do you make for a chef? This is what we came up with at The Perfect Piece of Cake. The cutting block and the pot were both cakes and the vegetable and lobster were all made of sugar. The chef was pleased with this depiction of his craft.

This angel cake was a special request for a baptism cake.

Dora and Boots made this little girl's birthday party extra special.

Elmo and Cookie Monster are a favorite of every young child. This cake was for twin girls who each got there favorite Sesame Street character for a cake.

Curious George is one of those beloved characters that is loved by kids and grown-ups alike. This cake was for a little boy who has loved George always.

The Hulk, enough said.

The location of this birthday party played a big part in the cake that we created. It took place a salon for girls where the party goers get a beauty makeover. This vanity cake was the perfect piece.

This cake was for my son's birthday. He is in love with Lightning McQueen.

Another Thanksgiving cake.

Thanksgiving is a time of harvest and that was the theme for this cake. The vegetables were all made out of sugar and the pumpkins were mini cakes.

This soccer ball cake was for a little boy who dreams of becoming the next Beckham.

What better cake for a card shark poker player than this poker table cake. Francia was delighted with her cake and everything was edible, even the cards.

This teapot and tea cups were for my daughter's birthday teaparty. Every little girl got to enjoy their own individual teacup cake.

The Littlest Petshop was the theme of this cake for a little girl who can't live without her Petshops.

Jackie is a little girl with lots of style. She wanted a leopard print birthday cake and this is what we settled upon.

This block cake was for a baby shower for a close friend of mine. I love creating cakes for people I love.

This wedding cake was for a bride who wanted something non-traditional for her beach themed wedding. Needless to say her jaw dropped when she saw this creation. Everything on the cake was completely edible, down to the palm trees.

This cake was commissioned by the artist Romero Britto for an event taking place at his gallery in Miami Beach, FL. The cake was a representation of the artists style.

This Shrek cake was entirely edible, down to the mud he is bathing in which was delicious chocolate buttercream.

What better cake for a spiderman lover than Spidey himself.

This cake was a real surprise to the artist that was having her birthday. A replica of her work was framed and sugar and displayed on an easel made out of sugar as well. These are the kinds of special personal touches we strive to incorporate in our cakes.

This cake was made for a little girl who loves ballet and was having a ballet theme birthday party.
